ASU Softball Closes Fall Ball Season With Dominant Victory

Oct 30, 2014

TEMPE – Dale Ryndak was exceptional as usual and the Arizona State University softball program closed out the 2014 Fall Ball camp with another dominating victory in a 19-0 effort over Central Arizona College on Thursday in Tempe.

Ryndak pitched seven innings of scoreless softball with a whopping 13 strikeouts, giving up just two hits, no walks and no runs. Alexis Cooper pitched two perfect innings and Jenna Makis added another scoreless inning to close things out for the Devils.

Leading just 2-0, the Sun Devil offense overcame a sluggish start with a three-run fifth inning and the route was on from there.  ASU got a one-out walk from Sierra Rodriguez to start the surge and back-to-back-to-back hits by Abby Spiel, Jenn Soria and Haley Steel increased ASU’s lead to 5-0.

Bethany Kemp hit a solo shot in the sixth to increase ASU’s lead to 6-0 and ASU tacked on eight more in the seventh inning to blow the doors open.

The Sun Devils will open the 2015 season on Thursday, Feb. 5 against Creighton as part of the annual Kajikawa Classic in Tempe.
