Memorable Moments: Cori Close
UCLA Head Women's Basketball Coach Cori Close enters her fourth season at the helm of the Bruins' program in 2014-15. UCLA brings the No. 1 recruiting class to Westwood this season and is currently ranked 23rd in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Bruins have been picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 by a vote by the head coaches as well as the media.
Close recalls the Bruins' stellar run in the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament in Seattle. The Bruins lost to then-No. 6 California at home a couple weeks prior to the Pac-12 Tournament. After a win over Utah in the quarterfinals, the Bruins bounced No. 5 Cal out of the Pac-12 Tournament, 70-58. UCLA would later lose a 51-49 finale to No. 4 Stanford in the title game the next night.
