NANEA, Hawai’i – Washington women’s golf will head to the Nanea Golf Club to compete in the Pac-12 Preview from November 3-4. Located on the Big Island near Kona, Hawai’I, the No. 6 Huskies will participate in the field of 12 on one of the most esteemed courses in the country.

The 54-hole Pac-12 Preview begins on Monday, November 3 at 7:30 a.m. HT (10:30 PT) continuing through Tuesday, November 4. The Huskies placed third at this event last year shooting 7-under as a team, eight strokes behind USC, the tournament champions.

Rounding out the Pac-12 the Huskies will face off against several teams in the top-10 including No. 1 USC, No. 3 Stanford, No. 7 UCLA, No. 13 Arizona as well as California, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Colorado, Washington State and host Hawai'i, the only non-Pac-12 team.

The Dawgs will go with a with a five player lineup including Charlotte Thomas, Eimi Koga, Cyd Okino, SooBin Kim, and Jing Yan. In their previous three tournaments this fall the Huskies placed first at both the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational and the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. Most recently, they finished fourth at the Stanford Intercollegiate Tournament.

Hoping to make a strong finish to the 2014 fall season, the Washington women’s golf team looks to make a statement in Nanea this coming week among an impressive Pac-12 field.

  • Head coach Mary Lou Mulflur is in her 32nd season as the head coach of Washington. She led the Dawgs back to the NCAA Championships last year for the 10th time.
  • Senior SooBin Kim won the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational earlier this season by nine strokes. She now has four individual tournament wins, tied for the most all-time at UW. Kim led the Huskies last year in scoring average at 72.00 and was the top finisher at the NCAA Championships where she tied for 16th.
  • Washington moved up to No. 1 in the country by Golfweek after winning their home tournament and was then named No. 1 by Golfstat after backing that up with another win at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite. The Dawgs are still No. 1 by Golfweek, but fell to No. 6 after their fourth-place finish at Stanford in the golfstat rankings.
  • Washington returns four players that competed at the 2014 NCAA Championships, Kim, Charlotte Thomas, Jennifer Yang and Ying Luo.
  • The Dawgs have two players who advanced to Stage III of LPGA qualifying, Kim and Jing Yan.
  • The Huskies finished second at the 2014 NCAA West Regional, falling by just one stroke. At the NCAA Championships, Washington finished 17th.

This second season of the Pac-12 Preview at Nanea. The exclusive golf course gets very few rounds per year and rarely hosts a tournament. Last season, USC won the inagural tournament with the Huskies finishing third. Bronte Law of UCLA won the individual title with SooBin Kim leading the Huskies in a tie for eighth.
