CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team concludes the 2014 fall season this Sunday when the Beavers race at the largest fall regatta on the West Coast, the Head of the Lake Regatta in Seattle, Wash.

COURSE: The three-mile course starts in Lake Union along “boathouse row” with Seattle’s iconic Space Needle in view. Rowers wind beneath the University Bridge into Portage Bay and through the Montlake Cut to Lake Washington where the course takes a turn back toward Husky Stadium to the finish line near the entrance to Conibear Shellhouse at the University of Washington.

RACE TIMES: Racing begins at 8 a.m. with the Men’s Collegiate Varsity 8 crews – in which the Beavers will be the second boat out of the gate. The Men’s Collegiate Junior Varsity 8 race begins at 8:03 a.m. with OSU again the second boat in line, and the Men’s Collegiate Third Varsity 8 goes off at 8:13 a.m. with the Orange & Black boat in the fifth position.

OSU rowers will jump back into their shells to race three boats in the Men’s 4+ starting at 9:48 a.m.

RESULTS: Results for the Head of the Lake Regatta can be found at headofthelake.org.

QUOTING INTERIM HEAD COACH GABE WINKLER: “We’ll see a lot of these teams again during the spring racing season so it is important to show well and will be a good measure of where we’re at. Across the board, the freshmen and varsity have been looking great and there is a lot of positive energy in the boathouse. We’re looking to see how that translates at the Head of the Lake coming off our successes last weekend.”

LAST TIME AT THE HEAD OF THE LAKE: Oregon State crews earned a pair of second place finishes in the Varsity 8 and Junior Varsity 8 races, while the Third Varsity 8 came in fifth.
