Rapp and Redlicki Take Home Doubles Title at So. Cal Intercollegiates

LOS ANGELES - UCLA freshmen Austin Rapp and Martin Redlicki took home the doubles title at the 58th Southern California Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday, guaranteeing that the Bruins will win both draws at their home tournament at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA's Gage Brymer and Dennis Mkrtchian will meet in the singles final on Sunday.

Rapp and Redlicki, unseeded in the 16-team draw, won the doubles championship following a pair of wins on Saturday. They began the day with a 8-2 victory over UCSD's Alexandre Miaule and Horea Porutiu in the semifinals. In the final they downed BYU's David Ball and Jacob Sullivan, 8-3.

In singles, the top-seeded Brymer booked a spot in Sunday's final with a 6-2, 6-3 win over fourth-seeded teammate Karue Sell in the top half of the draw. Mkrtchian advanced to the final with a 7-6(2), 6-3 win over Redlicki. Brymer and Mkrtchian will square off in the championship match at Noon.
