Cats in Fourth Headed into Final Round
TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s golf currently sits in fourth place after completing rounds one and two at the Pac-12 Preview on Monday. The event is hosted at Nanea Golf Club in Kona, Hawaii (par 73, 6,392 yards) and features 11 teams from the Pac-12 as well as the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine.
Arizona finished the first round in fifth place with a score of 293 (+1) and moved up a spot to fourth place after a second round score of 302 (+10). The Wildcats have a total score of 595 (+11) heading into the final round on Tuesday.
Junior Lindsey Weaver was the top finisher for the Wildcats as she ended the day in a tie for 12th place. She shot a 70 (-3) with six birdies in the first round, followed by a 77 (+4) in the second round for a total score of 147 (+1).
Seniors Manon Gidali and Kendall Prince share the next spot for the Wildcats with total scores of 149 (+3). Gidali finished even in the first round and three over par in the second round. Prince shot a 75 (+2) in the first round and a 74 (+1) in the second round. The seniors are currently in a five-way tie for 17th-place.
Freshman Krystal Quihuis had a first-round score of 76 (+3) and a second-round score of 75 (+2). Her total score of 151 (+5) leaves her tied in 24th-place. Sophomore Wanasa Zhou rounds out the Arizona five with rounds of 75 (+2) and 78 (+5) for a total score of 153 (+7).
No. 6 Washington currently leads the pack with a total score of 575 (-9) after rounds of 282 (-10) and 293 (+1). No. 7 UCLA holds the second spot with round scores of 288 (-4) and 295 (+3) for a total score of 583 (-1). No. 3 Stanford follows with a score of 594 (+10). It’s a tight race as Washington State sits in fifth place right behind the Wildcats at 596 (+12), with No. 2 USC just one stroke behind them at 597 (+13).
The final round of the Pac-12 Preview is set to take place on Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. HST/10:45 MST. Arizona will tee off with Stanford, UCLA and Washington at 10:45 a.m. MST. Live scoring and daily recaps will be available at golfstat.com and ArizonaWildcats.com.
