Princeville, Hawai’i – The Arizona State men’s golf team is in fourth place after day one action at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. Sophomore Nicolo Galletti and junior Jon Rahm keep ASU competitive through the first 18 holes at the par-72, 7,223-yard Makai Golf Club.
The Sun Devils are currently in fourth place with an 11-under 277. Georgia Tech sits in first place after posting a 16-under 272, with four golfers under par. Frederick Wedel of Pepperdine leads all players after shooting an impressive 8-under 64 on the day.
Three Sun Devils finished the first round under par to keep ASU in the hunt. Not far behind Wedel, Galletti leads ASU with an impressive 6-under par. Rahm finished his first round with a 5-under, as he looks to stay focused after his first place finish at the Bill Cullum Invitational back in October. Sophomore Ki Taek Lee was the final Sun Devil to finish under par, at 1-under.
Senior Mathias Schjoelberg, golfing as an individual, is tied for 20th with a 2-under 70 through 18 holes.
Second round action continues on Tuesday when Arizona State tees off at 8:30 a.m. HAST/11:30 a.m. MST with Georgia Tech, Mississippi, and San Diego.
