Stanford's Baird voted men's soccer player of the week
SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced STANFORD’s Corey Baird as the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for games from Oct. 27-Nov. 2.
Baird (Escondido, Calif.) had the first multi-goal game of his career, and the first for the Cardinal in 2014, scoring twice to carry No. 8 Stanford to a 2-2 draw with No. 1 UCLA. With the Cardinal trailing the Bruins by a goal late in the second half, Baird volleyed in his second goal of the game to equalize and save the point for Stanford. The freshman is now tied for second on the team in goals (3) and sixth in points (8).
The honor is Baird’s first and is Stanford’s 19th all-time player of the week selection.
Stanford is back home this week and will face No. 4 WASHINGTON on Friday, Nov. 7 at 5:00 p.m. PT and OREGON STATE on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. PT. For more information and to view the 2014 television schedule, visit www.pac-12.com.
