STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford senior Chasson Randle was one of 36 student-athletes named to the watch list for the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award, announced Tuesday by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The annual honor, named for Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, recognizes the top point guards in college basketball.
A 2014 All-Pac-12 First Team honoree who sparked Stanford’s 2014 NCAA Tournament upset of Kansas, Randle enters his final season 686 points away from passing Todd Lichti (2,336) as the school’s all-time scoring leader and averaged a team-high 18.8 points last year.
A two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree, Randle completed his undergraduate degree in African and African-American Studies one year ahead of his class. Randle is currently working on a master’s in psychology, joining Anthony Brown and Stefan Nastic as fellow seniors also completing coursework toward their master’s degrees.
Randle is one of three Pac-12 players on the watch list, joining Arizona’s T.J. McConnell and Utah’s Delon Wright.
