Huskies Breeze Through Day One of PNW Intercollegiates

KIRKLAND –The University of Washington men’s tennis team easily handled day one of the PNW Intercollegiates Friday as it advanced seven of its eight competitors/doubles pairs to the next rounds. The Huskies are hosting the tournament at the Central Park Tennis Club in Kirkland.

In singles action, nationally-ranked senior Emmett Egger posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Portland State’s Ethan Lopez to advance to the quarterfinals of flight one. Viktor Farkas earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Eastern Washington’s Eduardo Bringold in flight two while Rishabh Raman and Dragos Puscalau also earned straight sets wins in the first round of their flights.

Doubles action also saw the Huskies advance as Viktor Farkas and Wendell Watanabe posted an 8-4 win in round one and an 8-5 victory in round two of flight one to earn a spot in the semifinals on Saturday. Dragos Puscalau and Rishabh Rama also clinched a semifinals berth after registering an 8-4 win in the quarterfinals of flight two.

Day two action of the PNW Intercollegiates gets underway on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m.
