UW Earns Four Spots in Finals at PNW Intercollegiates
KIRKLAND - The University of Washington men’s tennis team continued its strong play on Saturday at the PNW Intercollegiates as four Huskies earned spots in the finals of their respective singles and doubles flights.
Nationally-ranked Emmett Egger earned a tightly contested win over Gonzaga’s Alvaro Nazal, 7-5, 7-6 (2) in his singles flight to put him up against Oregon’s Daan Maasland in Sunday’s final.
Viktor Farkas also defeated an Oregon Duck to advance to the flight two finals as he posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Joey Swaysland. Joining Farkas and Egger in the finals will be Rishabh Raman who knocked off Boise State’s Brian Foley, 6-3, 6-2 in flight three.
In the semifinals of flight one doubles, Farkas and Watanabe pulled out a hard-fought 8-7 (3) victory over Portland’s Kent Andreasen and Mathieu Garcia to pit them against another Pilot duo of Reid deLaubenfels and Steffen Dierauf in Sunday’s final.
Action gets started at 10:15 Sunday at the Central Park Tennis Center in Kirkland, Wash.
