Beavers Win Nine Titles at Mike Clock Open
Forest Grove, Ore. – Oregon State wrestlers won nine of 10 weight classes on Sunday at the Mike Clock Open at Pacific University.
OSU titlists were freshman Ronnie Bresser at 125 pounds; senior Joey Palmer (133); redshirt freshman Devin Reynolds (141); sophomore Abraham Rodriguez (149); sophomore Joey Delgado (157); junior Seth Thomas (165); senior Joe Latham (174) senior Taylor Meeks (184) and sophomore Cody Crawford (197).
Bresser had two pins and two major decisions. Palmer edged teammate Jack Hathaway and had two pins and a major decision; Hathaway had three pins en route to the finals.
Reynolds defeated teammate Jared Reis 4-0. He did not give up a point in three matches; Reis had two pins. Rodriguez had two pins and two major decisions.
Delgado edged teammate Alex Elder for the title, reversing the outcome of the Orange & Black scrimmage bout. Delgado had two pins, Elder a technical fall and two major decisions.
Thomas had three pins. Latham defeated teammate Ali Alshujery in the finals; Latham had three majors, Alshujery had three pins.
Meeks had two pins and a major won by injury default over teammate Corey Griego, who had three pins in less than a minute. Crawford had a technical fall and a pin.
The Beavers open the dual-meet season at 7 p.m. Thursday with a home match against Southern Oregon. If the Beavers defeat SOU, they will become the third program in NCAA history with 1,000 dual-meet victories. It would also be coach Jim Zalesky’s 100th dual-meet win at OSU.
Season and single-match tickets for the upcoming season are on sale. General admission season tickets are $36 for adults and $24 for seniors (62-over) and youth (3-18). Single-match tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors/youth; all seats are general admission.
Fans can purchase tickets by calling 1-800-GOBEAVS; by visiting the ticket area on osubeavers.com, or in person at the Gill Coliseum ticket office from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Season tickets are good for the entire six-event regular-season home slate. The Beavers host Southern Oregon (Nov. 13); Arizona State (Nov. 24); Stanford (Jan. 10); Cal State-Bakersfield (Jan. 17); Cal Poly (Feb. 7) and Boise State (Feb. 8).
The Pacific-12 Conference tournament, scheduled for March 1 at Gill Coliseum, is not included in the season-ticket package. Details on ticketing for that event will be released at a later date.
