Kylie McCarthy Named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week
Senior forward Kylie McCarthy (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) earned Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring both goals in UCLA's 2-0 win at USC that clinched the outright Pac-12 title.
McCarthy broke a scoreless tie in the 79th minute, following up on a saved shot by Caprice Dydasco. McCarthy collected the rebounded shot and dribbled near post before making a move on a USC defender and threading the needle to put the ball in the net past USC goalkeeper Caroline Stanley for the game-winner. McCarthy continued the attack with another shot 30 seconds later that went wide before connecting on a pass from Ally Courtnall and burying the shot in the far post for the final goal at 87:00. McCarthy has scored five goals this season, all in the last five games.
McCarthy's honor is the first of her career, UCLA's 10th this season and the 50th all-time for the Bruins.
Colorado's Morgan Stanton was voted Defensive Player of the Week, while ASU's Chandler Morris earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
