LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Arizona State men (2-2) and women’s (0-3) swim and dive teams return to action this Friday and Saturday, beginning with Pac-12 bouts in Los Angeles against USC. On Saturday, the two teams split as the men take on CSU Bakersfield, while the women’s team faces its second conference opponent in as many days, UCLA.
Both teams have not competed since late October, and this weekend’s showdowns will kick start a busy week of competition for the Sun Devils. After these two upcoming dual meets, they will then travel to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invite beginning Thursday, Nov. 20.
The men’s team is coming off two consecutive victories over Seattle and aim to carry that momentum into conference competition. For the women, they used the long stretch between meets in hopes to regain their health and garner their first victory of the season after falling to Washington State in Pullman.
The USC men hold a 2-0 record in dual meets and are ranked by CollegeSwimming.com as the No. 17 team in the nation. The Trojans’ women team is also 2-0 and is ranked No. 30 after taking down two Pac-12 schools, Washington State and Oregon State.
In regards to Saturday’s opponents, the CSU Bakersfield men possess a 3-1 record, while the UCLA women sit at 3-0.
At stake for the ASU men is a 6-for-6 record in team relays. This bodes well for the Devils, as associate head coach Greg Earhart talked early in the season about how their performances in relays will determine the success of the program this year.
