California Signing Day: Getting To Know MaAne Mosley

Nov 14, 2014

BERKELEY – The 2014 women’s basketball national signing window has opened, and CalBears.com will highlight each member of the 2014-15 signing class in a special "Getting To Know You" series from Wednesday to Sunday. Today's feature is on MaAne Mosley, a winger from Oakland, Calif.

Mosley, a 5-11 winger, attends Saint Mary’s College HS where she was former teammates with current Bears Mikayla Cowling and Gabby Green. She was an All-Tri-County Athletic League selection last season for the Panthers when she averaged 12.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She is rated as the No. 16 winger in the country by ESPN HoopGurlz and Prospects Nation, and is regarded as a top 150 recruit by both publications in addition to All Star Girls Report, Girls Basketball Report and Blue Star Basketball.

“It feels great to be able to keep another local talent at home, suiting up for Cal Women’s Basketball,” California head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. “MaAne has limitless potential. She is a next-level athlete with a smooth game around the basket and on the perimeter, and her defensive tenacity is special! When she first came to our camp as a youngster, we knew she was someone we wanted to coach, and I’m really excited that she’ll be in blue and gold next year.”

MaAne is the daughter of Siddha and Christie Mosley and has one younger sister. She plans to major in psychology at Cal.

“I could really see how much the coaches cared about me and my family,” Mosley said of her commitment. “It wasn’t like they were talking to me as a player or recruit. It was them talking to me as a person, and I could see how they had watched me grow as an individual. Because of that I felt safe and wanted, and that solidified me wanting to go to Cal.”

What They’re Saying
“An athletic left-handed perimeter threat and mid-range game producer … has an explosive attack in the key … active on the glass … a versatile defender.” – ESPN HoopGurlz

“Mosley is a dynamic athlete who can play multiple positions with her strength and quickness. The Cal commit actually compares to former Cal standout Gennifer Brandon in that she works the offensive glass at a high level. Players who can create their own offense without touches and isolations are invaluable and with the work ethic and determination she demonstrated this weekend she will push for minutes early in her career in Berkeley and backed up her ranking in ELITE 150.” – Chris Hansen, ProspectsNation

“Poses an argument to be one of the nation’s most athletic wing prospects, best off the dribble.” – Dan Olson, Girls Basketball Report
