Rick DeMont Named 2015 World Championships Swim Coach

Nov 18, 2014

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona swimming and diving head coach Rick DeMont has been named as assistant head coach for one of the major international competitions this summer. DeMont will assist in coaching the USA men’s swim team for the 2015 World Championships.

The staff for the World Championships in Kazan, Russia will be headed by coaches of rival Pac-12 programs in a staff that is pretty heavy on coaches from the collegiate conference.

DeMont will join Dave Durden from Cal who will act as head coach after a great spring and summer from the Golden Bears. His fellow assistant coaches will be Whitney Hite from Wisconsin and David Marsh from SwimMAC Carolina.

Arizona’s DeMont has also served as the South African team’s assistant coach at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2008 Games in Beijing. In 2014, he was an assistant coach for the U.S. team at the Pan Pacs in Australia.

Arizona will be back in action this weekend when the diving team hosts the Wildcat Diving Invite starting Fri. Nov. 21st at noon MST.
