SAN FRANCISCO – Eight student-athletes on the Oregon women’s soccer team received Pac-12 All-Academic honors for their work in the classroom and on the field this past season. Redshirt Freshman Caitlyn Wong and senior Lilly Archer earned Pac-12 All-Academic first-team honors, giving the Ducks two members on the first team for the first time since 2008.
Seniors Ryann Davie, Bri Pugh, Allie Rodriguez, and Riley Smith along with redshirt junior Kelsey Foo and junior Brooke Strawn all were Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selections.
“It is great to see our players recognized for their hard work in the classroom,” said head coach Kat Mertz.
To earn consideration for the recognition, athletes must possess a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, be enrolled at the institution for at least one year and be a starter or a significant contributor on the team.
Majoring in biochemistry, Wong possesses a 4.02 G.P.A. – the highest GPA of any honoree in the conference. The Sunnyvale, Calif., native was the only redshirt freshman to receive first-team honors.
Archer will graduate this year with a degree in digital arts and leave Oregon with a 3.75 G.P.A.
Davie (3.35, human physiology), Pugh (3.28, journalism: advertising), Rodriguez (3.45, Spanish) and Smith (3.05, digital arts) will also graduate this year. Foo (3.56) and Strawn (3.51) will continue to pursue their majors in material and product studies and general studies, respectively.
On the field, the eight Ducks accounted for 27 of Oregon’s 44 points on the year. The group scored 10 of the team’s 16 goals and seven of the team’s 12 assists.
