Career Night Helps Smart Finish 6th on 1-meter

AUSTIN, Texas – With a career-best performance on the 1-meter springboard, sophomore Eleanor Smart secured a sixth-place finish at the Texas Diving Invitational Friday.

Smart, whose previous top score was 250.65 from last season, totaled 261.40 in the evening finals. She was joined among the top eight divers by junior Sara-Lina Boushakra, who totaled 249.15 points.

Meghan Houston of host Texas captured the event with a score of 304.25.

The Bears had two other divers in action Friday, with Anne Kastler, who was eighth on the 3-meter board Thursday, taking 16th in the 3-meter event (218.20), and Hayden Tavoda finished 23rd (199.15).

The three-day meet featuring eight teams from across the country concludes with platform competition Saturday. Fans can watch the finals live on the Longhorn Network.
