Nine UCLA Bruins men’s soccer players were named to Pac-12 All-Conference Teams, including three to the first team, as announced by the conference. Sophomore Michael Amick along with Seniors Earl Edwards Jr. and Leo Stolz were named to the first team, freshman Seyi Adekoya was named to the second team and freshman Abu Danladi, junior Grady Howe, senior Aaron Simmons, sophomore Nathan Smith and senior Andrew Tusaazemajja were named as Honorable Mentions.
First Team All-Pac-12
Michael Amick, a defender, has started all 19 games for UCLA this season, leading the team in minutes with 1756. The Sunnyvale, Calif. native has helped the Bruins earn seven shutouts from his center back position. This is Amick’s first All-Pac-12 award.
Earl Edwards Jr., a goalkeeper, has started all 19 games for the Bruins this season, earning seven shutouts. The San Diego, Calif. native has totaled 55 saves this year, bringing his career total to 193, which is 11 saves away from fifth all-time in UCLA history. A three-year team-captain, Edwards Jr. lays claim to the lowest goals against average in the Pac-12 Conference (0.75 GAA). Edwards Jr. also earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2013, along with Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 in 2012.
Leo Stolz, a midfielder, has started all 19 games for UCLA this season and currently leads the squad in goals (7), assists (4) and points (18). Stolz finished the regular season sixth among Pac-12 players in points. The 2013 Pac-12 Player of the Year has recorded two game-winning goals and converted his only penalty kick chance of the season. Stolz also earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2012 and 2013.
Second Team All-Pac-12
Seyi Adekoya, a forward, has appeared in 17 games (nine starts) for the Bruins this season and currently ranks second on the team with 14 points. The freshman has posted five goals and four assists, including two game-winning goals. This is Adekoya’s first All-Pac-12 award.
Honorable Mention All-Pac-12
Abu Danladi, a forward, has appeared in seven games (four starts) for UCLA this season. Despite being hampered by injury, the Ghanaian has recorded four goals and one assist in his 319 minutes of play. The 2013-14 Gatorade High School Player of the Year has netted two game-winning goals this year. This is Danladi’s first All-Pac-12 award.
Grady Howe, a midfielder/defender, has appeared in all 19 games (16 starts) for the Bruins, recording one assist. The defensive stalwart has helped the Bruins earn seven shutouts this season. This is Howe’s first All-Pac-12 award.
Aaron Simmons, a defender, has appeared in all 19 games (12 starts) for UCLA this season. The Mansfield, Texas native has tallied two goals and assisted in the Bruins seven shutout efforts this year. Simmons also earned Second Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2013.
Nathan Smith, a defender, has appeared in 13 games (11 starts) for the Bruins at right back. The Clovis, Calif. native has played an integral part in all seven shutouts for UCLA. This is Smith’s first All-Pac-12 award.
Andrew Tusaazemajja, a forward, has appeared in all 19 games (14 starts) for UCLA, totaling a career-high eight points. The Panorama City, Calif. native has netted two goals and a team-high tying four assists. This is Tusaazemajja’s first All-Pac-12 award.
