No. 10 Texas Downs Cal, 71-55, In 2K Classic Title Game

NEW YORK – Senior David Kravish and junior Tyrone Wallace combined for 35 points, but the California men’s basketball team could not overcome an early deficit in dropping a 71-55 decision to No. 10 Texas in the 2K Classic Championship Game Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.

Kravish finished with a game-high 19 points, maching his career-best point total. He also posted five rebounds for the Bears.

Kravish was named to the 2K Classic All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of Friday's game.

Wallace scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half, also recording eight rebounds and four assists in the contest. 

Wallace scored five-straight points for the Bears early in the second half to cut Cal’s deficit to just seven at 43-36 with 13:30 to play. The Longhorns responded, however, with a 5-0 run of their own to push their lead back to 12 points with 11 minutes to play in the contest.  

Texas jumped out to the early advantage, connecting on each of their first five shots, while Cal opened the contest 1-of-5 from the floor to begin the contest.

Texas’ Jonathan Holmes led the Longhorns with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Cal returns to the Golden State where the Golden Bears will host Cal Poly on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
