BERKELEY, Calif. -- California gymnastics fans can get a glimpse of the Golden Bears' training on Tuesday, Nov. 25, as the California men's and women's gymnastics programs will host a co-ed Intrasquad at the Golden Bear Rec Center.
"I'm really excited about our co-ed instraquad," said women's gymnastics head coach and director of Cal Gymnastics Justin Howell. "We train side-by-side every day. The men are very supportive of us and it will be exciting to showcase our skills together and bring positive visibility to both of our programs."
The intrasquad begins at 1 p.m. and includes both the men's and women's programs divided into Blue, Gold and Gray teams. Six gymnasts on each men's and women's team will perform, but only two individual's scores will counts toward the final total. Additionally, the intrasquad will feature guest judges such as assistant athletic director of student-athlete services, Paul Savage.
The teams are hosting a canned food drive to donate to area food pantries in time for the holidays, and fans interested in attending are encouraged to bring canned food. Afterward, fans will be able to meet gymnasts from both teams.
