Spight And Green To Join Squad In 2015-16
Dominic Green and Andre Spight will be joining the Sun Devil basketball squad in 2017-18
Green, out of Hazen High in Renton, Wash., averaged 20 points last year. After a strong AAU performance this summer where he shot 14-of-22 from 3-point range, his stock rose but the Sun Devils were on him early, as the 2013-14 Seamount Player of the Year will hope to build on his team’s 18-4 mark last year.
"He can really shoot," ASU coach Herb Sendek says. "He can be an exceptional player. He has his very best basketball ahead of him and we expect him to be an elite shooter."
Spight is a 6-3 guard out of South Plains College, he averaged more than 16 points per game in 2013-14 to go along with 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He played high school hoops at Pasadena High School, and last year shot nearly 40 percent from the three-point stripe and he helped South Plains to a NJCAA Tournament appearance. He played at two high-level national Junior College Events this past summer, taking part in Jerry Mullen’s Top-100 Camp and the All-American JUCO Showcase Eliete 80. Seven times last season he hit five or more 3s in a game, including a 7-of-10 effort at Howard College.
"Andre's been more of an off guard, but this season his team needs him to play some point guard," Sendek said. "He can really score, and just like Dominic, he can really shoot with range."
