Nov 25, 2014

SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington State University senior Stephanie Logan was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Women’s Volleyball First Team and was joined by five of her WSU teammates who were selected to the honorable mention team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.

Logan, a starting outside hitter from Pullman, Wash., was one of seven women named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team. She has a 3.97 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in political science at WSU. Logan is a member of WSU Mock Trial Team and currently an intern at the Thomas S. Foley Institute for Public Policy & Public Service. Logan was a Pac-12 All-Academic second team selection in 2012.

Two Cougars were named to the honorable mention team for the third time in their careers: Chelsey Bettinson, a senior outside hitter from Richland, Wash., with a 3.40 GPA majoring in movement studies, and Shawna Lum, a senior defensive specialist from Westchester, Calif., with a 3.64 GPA majoring in international business and Spanish. Three sophomores were selected to the honorable mention team in their first year of eligibility for the honors: Emmy Allen, an outside hitter from Mill Creek, Wash., undeclared major with a 3.34 GPA; Haley MacDonald, a setter from Bothell, Wash., undeclared major with a 3.11 GPA; and Tani Stephens, a defensive specialist from Albany, Ore., undeclared major with a 3.48 GPA.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team’s matches. A total of 68 women were selected for the 2014 Pac-12 Volleyball All-Academic teams. During Head Coach Jen Greeny's four years at WSU, 15 Cougars have earned conference all-academic honors.
