The Jared Goff-Kenny Lawler connection sparks Cal despite loss
California quarterback Jared Goff has enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore in 2014. Against BYU during a Pac-12 Networks broadcast on Saturday, Goff's favorite target was sophomore wide receiver Kenny Lawler.
The Goff-Lawler connection was responsible for three touchdowns for the Golden Bears and was the key reason they were able to stay competitve against the Cougars in a 42-35 BYU win. On the day, Lawler caught 12 passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns for a Cal team that will finish the season at 5-7.
Meanwhile, Goff completed 38-of-60 passes for 393 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. While Cal fell short of bowl eligibility, the loss gave coach Sonny Dykes a promising outlook heading into next season.
