Sefo Liufau and Nelson Spruce set CU football records on one play

Nov 29, 2014

Sefo Liufau's connection with Nelson Spruce has been outstanding all season for Colorado and was on display again for the Buffaloes in a 38-34 loss to the Utes, as seen on Pac-12 Networks.

Halfway through the third quarter with the Buffs trailing 28-27, Liufau threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Spruce on third down and gave the Buffaloes a 34-28 lead. The catch was Spruce's 12th receiving touchdown of the season, which set a CU record that was previously held by Derek McCoy. Spruce finished the game with five catches for 91 yards and a score.

The pass also set a school record for Liufau, who on the same play became the school's most prolific passer in a single season. Liufau ended the day with 317 yards through the air and finished the season with 3,200 total yards, breaking Koy Detmer's previous record mark of 3,156.
