Roundup: Arizona has strong case for CFP with one more win

Arizona Athletics

Big news for Arizona football, which rose to No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings. Kyle Bonagura says Arizona has a strong case to make the College Football Playoff (with another win over Oregon, of course).

Arizona State

Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly was named the Pac-12 football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Props.

The Oregonian’s Mike Tokito features Oregon play-by-play broadcaster Jerry Allen, who is in his 28th season as the voice of the Ducks. I love listening to this guy.

Utah men’s basketball has a huge game against eighth-ranked Wichita State Wednesday night in the SLC, and Matthew Piper of the SL Trib tells us that Delon Wright is motivated by the loss to San Diego State earlier in the season. Wright was just 2-13 from the floor in that game.

Scott Wolf believes that USC football is headed to the Holiday Bowl or Alamo Bowl.

Stanford women’s soccer is ready for its sixth national semifinal appearance in seven seasons, so get yourself ready for it by reading the Stanford-Florida State game preview and game notes from Friday at 4:30 p.m. PT on ESPNU.

Cal men’s hoops will be lacing ‘em up against Montana Wednesday night, meaning former Cal assistant Travis DeCuire is back in town as an opponent (he’s the head coach of the Grizzlies).

More Kyle Bonagura here, as he believes that a progressing UCLA football team wasn’t quite ready to take the next step, evidenced by the 31-10 loss to Stanford. Also, the Los Angeles Times features UCLA basketball guard Isaac Hamilton, who “continues to shake off the rust” after sitting out last year.

Oregon State

Here are the final stats from the 2014 Oregon State football season.

Washington State

While we’re talking about stats, Jacob Thorpe points out the important numbers from the 2014 Washington State football season. The Cougs averaged 477.7 passing yards per game, most in the nation by more than 110 yards per contest (Western Kentucky checked in at No. 2 with 365 yards per time out through the air).

Brian Howell discusses the youth that has helped guide Colorado volleyball back to the NCAA tournament. Freshman middle blocker Anna Pfefferle and sophomore MB Katelyn Cuff have played huge roles this year.

Nice feature from Mason Kelley of on San Jose native and Washington women’s basketball player Jazmine Davis. She has been working on cutting down on her turnovers and improving her distribution.

Here’s the Pac-12 football All-Conference team, announced Tuesday by the Conference of Champions.
