QUARTET OPEN UP PAC-12 PLAY WITH SWEEPS

Four Pac-12 teams opened up Pac-12 play with sweeps of the opening weekend. Depending on the poll, three to four teams are ranked in the national top-25. OREGON STATE is up to No. 11 in the AP top-25, its second-highest ranking, while Stanford checks in at No. 15 and ARIZONA STATE moves up to No. 18. WASHINGTON is on the cusp of the top-25 in the AP poll, after appearing in the USA Today poll for the first time last week at No. 23. ARIZONA STATE, the conference’s hottest team with nine-straight wins, opened up play with a 62-48 win over WASHINGTON and followed that up with a 78-64 win over WASHINGTON STATE, snapping the Cougars’ six-game win streak in the process.

Oregon State picked up road victories at UCLA and USC by an average of 16.5 points to up its record to 12-1 with a matchup with in-state rival, Oregon on Friday and Sunday. OSU has won the last seven-straight meetings. Stanford took care of business at home and now has won a modest four-straight following victories over Colorado and Utah. CALIFORNIA also defended its turf, winning games with Utah and Colorado, 67-49 and 75-59, respectively.

Along with the Oregon-Oregon State showdown in Eugene, Arizona State and Arizona will play both of its rivalry games this week, on Thursday in Tucson and on Saturday in Tempe. ASU has won 19 of the last 22 meetings between the two. This Friday will also feature the Cardinal traveling to Seattle for a matchup with Washington.
