Men's Volleyball Sweeps Limestone at UCSB Invit.

The fifth-ranked Bruin men's volleyball team swept past Limestone College in a match played Saturday afternoon in the UC Santa Barbara Invitational. Scores of the contest were 25-14, 25-15, 25-9. UCLA is now 3-0 on the season.

UCLA established a school record with 15 service aces in the match, five-each coming from Mitch Stahl and Michael Fisher. Oliver Martin led the team with nine kills. John Zappia and Jake Arnitz each added five kills. Hagen Smith totaled 24 set assists and Trent Kersten had four blocks in the match.

In set one, UCLA broke a four-all tie on kills from Fisher and Kersten. It built the lead up to 11-5 five after back-to-back aces by Fisher. A Martin kill made it 18-9 and a Stahl ace moved the margin to 21-10. UCLA won the first set following a Limestone service error.

Limestone scored the first five points to begin the second set. UCLA evened the score at 6-all after kills from Kersten and Martin. An ace from Stahl made it 10-6. Smith's kill handed UCLA a 13-8 edge and a block from Arnitz and Stahl upped it to 17-11. UCLA won the set 25-15.

In set three, a Zappia kill made it 2-0. Martin's kill lifted the Bruins to a 10-6 lead. UCLA led 11-7 after a kill by J.T. Hatch. Grant Chalmers' dig led to a kill which made it 13-7. UCLA then registered the next eight points on the way to a 25-9 win.

UCLA begins MPSF play next week with a pair of matches on the road at sixth-ranked BYU on Friday and Saturday.
