Hamblin Earns Pac-12 Player of the Week Honor
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Junior forward Ruth Hamblin has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. The award is Hamblin’s second player of the week honor this season.
Hamblin was a force in Oregon State’s come-from-behind, 73-70 victory over Washington State on Friday. The junior set a career-high with 31 points on 12-for-16 shooting from the floor. She also matched a career-high with 16 rebounds and blocked seven shots in the contest. Hamblin scored 13 of Oregon State’s 30 first-half points in the game, hitting all six of her shots, before exploding for 18 points in the second half, helping to spark the Beavers’ comeback. With the win Oregon State improved to 5-0 in Conference play and 15-1 overall. Hamblin ranks third in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting .634 from the field.
The junior also earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors earlier this season after helping the Beavers defeat then-No. 6/6 North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Oregon State returns to Gill Coliseum today to take on Washington in a game that will tip-off at 5 p.m.
