Hong Earns Pac-12 Honor

Jan 19, 2015

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s gymnast Ivana Hong was named the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday.

Hong scored a collegiate-best 9.950 on bars and a 9.900 on beam to earn a pair of individual event victories. Her performance on beam was crucial to the team’s success because it came after a missed routine by a teammate. Hong’s score on beam was just 0.025 off from her career best.

Hong’s score of 9.950 on bars helped Stanford generate a score of 49.475 – the team’s highest score in the event since 2007.

It is the second Pac-12 weekly honor of the season for Stanford after Elizabeth Price was named the Freshman/Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 12.
