SAN FRANCISCO - OREGON junior Kevin Farin and CALIFORNIA sophomore Maegan Manasse were named the Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Tennis Players of the Week for the first weeks of the 2014-15 season, the Conference office announced today.

Farin (Etterbeek, Belgium) posted two victories at the No. 1 position to lead Oregon to wins over Seattle and Loyola Marymount. He began the season by defeating Will Topp of Seattle, 6-4, 6-2, where UO swept the Redhawks, 7-0. On Jan. 18, Farin bested Charles Boyce of Loyola Marymount, 6-2, 6-2, as Oregon bested LMU, 6-1. The junior also teamed up with Jayson Amos for two doubles victories, also at the No. 1 spot. The duo is 3-0 in doubles play so far this year.

Manasse (Redondo Beach, Calif.), the fifth-ranked singles player in the nation, won both the singles and doubles titles at the Cal Winter Invitational. In singles play, she capped off her tournament with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over No. 32 Danielle Flores of Saint Mary’s on Sunday. Manasse also beat a ranked opponent in No. 47 Sophie Watts of Fresno State, and had a win over Cal Poly’s Emily Gibbens. In doubles, Manasse and teammate Denise Starr – ranked fourth nationally – posted three victories all by a score of 6-3 to win the doubles title.

Farin’s honor is the second weekly accolade of his career after earning player of the week in 2014. It marks Oregon’s fifth men’s player of the week selection all-time. Manasse earns her first-career weekly honor, and the 25th women’s player of the week selection all-time for California.
