Men's Tennis Set to Host UC Riverside on Saturday

TUCSON, Ariz- After grinding out six matches in three days last weekend, the Wildcats will get back after it, as they’ll take on UC Riverside, Saturday at noon out at the Tucson Country Club.
Junior Naoki Takeda enters this weekend as hot as can be for Arizona, boasting a team-best 11-3 overall record in singles play and a perfect 3-0 mark in dual match action thus far, including boasting two victories over ranked opponents from the No. 1 spot.
Sumeet Shinde has set the tone for a strong senior campaign, as he owns a 3-1 record in dual play. He’s played three of four spring matches from the No. 1 position. He also earned a convincing 6-2, 7-6(5) straight-set victory over No. 28 Felipe Soares last weekend.
Freshman Shoki Kasahara (10-8, 3-2 Dual) has also garnered positive attention in the early going, as he won two straight matches to close out ITA Pre Kick-Off action last weekend
"We are really looking forward to playing at The Tucson Country Club this weekend,” said head coach Tad Berkowitz. “They always put on a great event for us with a fantastic college tennis atmosphere. We had a competitive match with UC Riverside last year and we expect the same on Saturday.”
Saturday’s match will represent the seventh of Arizona’s season-long 13-match homestand to start the year. This will be the third consecutive year the Wildcats and Highlanders have met, with Arizona winning 7-0 decisions in each of the previous two meetings.
