Jan 28, 2015

BERKELEY – California women’s basketball signee Kristine Anigwe has been named a 2015 McDonald’s All-American and will represent the West in the 14th edition of the McDonald’s High School All-American game.

Anigwe, who Tuesday was named one of 16 nominees for the Naismith High School Player of the Year award, is one of 24 girls selected Wednesday for the game that will take place April 1 at the United Center in Chicago. Her selection gives Lindsay Gottlieb three McDonald’s All-Americans out of six eligible signees in her tenure at California.

The Phoenix, Ariz., native becomes the 13th Golden Bear signee to be named a McDonald’s All-American, following in the footsteps of Alexis Gray-Lawson and Devanei Hampton (2005), Gennifer Brandon, Eliza Pierre Tierra Rogers and DeNesha Stallworth (2009), Afure Jemerigbe and Lindsay Sherbert (2010) and Reshanda Gray and Justine Hartman (2011) and current freshmen Mikayla Cowling and Gabby Green (2014).
