Brittany Boyd breaks Cal women's basketball all-time assist record

Feb 2, 2015

A customary Pac-12 women's hoops matchup between California and Washington State took a historic turn Monday night. Near the end of the first half, Cal's Brittany Boyd delivered a pass in transition to teammate Reshanda Gray, who nailed the quick layup for the Bears.

It marked Brittany Boyd's 668th career assist and broke Karen Smith's school record that stood since 1984. Boyd is putting together a great season for Cal, as she ranks second in the country and first in the Pac-12 with 8.0 assists per game.

Cal went on to beat Washington State, 57-54, and Boyd discussed the win with Pac-12 Networks' Ros Gold-Onwude after the game.
