SAN FRANCISCO - OREGON senior guard Joseph Young has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Feb. 2-8, the Conference office announced today in a vote of media who cover Pac-12 men’s basketball.

The Houston, Texas, native averaged 30.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in two home victories for the Ducks, highlighted by breaking the 2,000 career point mark in the first game of the weekend. Young matched a season-high with 32 points in the 78-74 win against WASHINGTON, including the go-ahead jumper with 24 seconds remaining, along with three rebounds and two assists. On Sunday in the 95-72 win over WASHINGTON STATE, the senior was just two assists shy of a triple-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for his second double-double of the year. On the week, he went 22-for-37 (.595) from the field, 7-for-14 (.500) from three-point range, and was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line. Young, who now has 2,031 career points – including 1,115 at Oregon and 916 at Houston – is one of only five active players in Division I to have scored more than 2,000 career points.

The honor marks Young’s first-career weekly selection. It is the 33rd selection all-time for Oregon.

The Ducks head to Los Angeles this week and will play at USC on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. PT, then at UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 12 p.m. PT.
