Roundup: Mark Helfrich gets contract extension

Ducks football coach Mark Helfrich signed a five-year, $17.5 million extension with Oregon, the university announced Monday. Ted Miller says the extension is validation of the job Helfrich has done so far.

Bruce Pascoe writes that Arizona’s loss to the Sun Devils may end the Wildcats’ hopes of getting a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Cal interim athletic director Michael Williams wants the job on a full-time basis, he publicly said Monday. He took the job on an interim basis in June and is enjoyed doing the job. Cal is looking to fill the position by April.
