Tennis Enters National Rankings At No. 68
BOULDER -The University of Colorado women's tennis team winners of six of its first seven matches this spring season made its debut among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings for the first time this season entering as the No. 68 nationally ranked team, announced Tuesday.
The Buffaloes are 6-1 to begin the dual season, the best start to begin any season under the tutelage of head coach Nicole Kenneally. CU is one of three women's programs entering the Top 75 this week. Marshall enters for the first time at No. 73, and No. 75 Kansas is ranked for the first time since January 6.
CU (6-1) is coming of its second win of the season over a ranked opponent, upending then-No. 63 New Mexico, 5-2 last Sunday at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center. The Buffs also defeated then-No. 68 Kansas State back on Jan. 31.
Last season, CU made its debut at No. 54 after knocking off No. 54 Wichita State and No. 57 Denver in back-to-back matches.
Of the Pac-12 Conference schools also ranked Tuesday, the Buffs join UCLA (No. 4), California (No. 5), Stanford (10), Arizona State (29), Arizona (37), Utah (48), Washington (52), Washington State (58) among the Top 75 programs.
CU returns to action this weekend with non-conference play taking on Nevada this Saturday at 10 a.m., then former Big 12 Conference foe No. 75 Kansas on Sunday at Noon. Both matches are at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center. Parking and admission are free.
