Women's Golf Finishes Sixth At Westbrook

PEORIZ, Ariz. – Three Oregon State women's golfers carded a 1-over 73 in the final round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational on Monday to help the Beavers finish in a tie for sixth place in the 15-team field.
Junior Chelsea Saelee, sophomore Krissy Peterson and freshman Haley Nist all shot a 73 at the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club, while senior Anica Yoo and junior Ashlee Pickerell posted a 3-over 75.
The Beavers finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 10-over 290-290-294--874 to tie Oklahoma for sixth. Tennessee won the team title with a 13-under 851.
“I am so incredibly proud of this team,” Oregon State head coach Sammie Chergo said. “They played with so much pride and passion for Oregon State. We are working hard to lay a solid foundation to build this program back to national recognition, and this tournament has been a good starting point. We have many areas to improve on and our team is hungry to get back to work and get better each day.”

Yoo, who tied the Oregon State single-round record with a 4-under 68 on Sunday, finished in a tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard with an even-par 73-68-73--216. She was fifth in the field with 11 birdies over the three rounds.
Saelee was a stroke back with a 1-over 70-74-73--217 to finish in a tie for 16th place. She was 4 under on the par-4's to equal medalist A.J. Newell of Tennessee for tops among the 84 players in the field.
Nist finished in a tie for 33rd with a 5-over 73-75-73--221, Peterson shot a 7-over 74-76-73--223 for a tie for 46th and Pickerell concluded the tournament with a 10-over 78-73-75--226for a tie for 59th.
The Beavers have a week off before returning to action on Monday, March and Tuesday, March 3 at the Bruin Wave Invitational in Tarzana, Calif.
