Bruins Finish Fourth in John Hayt Intercollegiate Invitational

The 11th-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished fourth at the John Hayt Intercollegiate Invitational Sunday at Sawgrass Country Club.

The Bruins compiled a 54-hole team score of 885 (+21), 13 shots behind Texas (872, +8), which won the event. On the final day, UCLA posted a team score of 290 (+2), its best score of the weekend. Host North Florida finished second at 12-over par 876, followed by Oklahoma State in third place at 883 (+19). Alabama placed fifth at 891 (+27).

Individually, junior Jonathan Garrick led his team in the final round with a 1-under par 71 after carding two birdies and a bogey. Garrick tied for fifth place at 219 (+3). Junior Lorens Chan led the team with four birdies on the day, but also had four bogeys for an even par 72. He tied for 16th place 222 (+6). Junior Jake Knapp tied for 21st at 223 (+7) after signing for a final round score of 74 (+2). Senior Manav Shah, climbed 15 spots up the leader board with a Sunday score of 73 (+1). He tied for 37th at 228 (+12). Senior Preston Valder tied for 43rd at 229 (+13) following a 78 (+6).

Senior Jay Hwang, playing as an individual, tied for 45th following a final round of 77 (+5).

Beau Hossler of Texas won medalist honors firing a final round 70 (-2) for a 54-hole score of 212 (-4).
