This week in Pac-12 softball

• The non-conference slate comes to an end for Pac-12 softball this weekend, with all nine teams in tournament action before kicking off Pac-12 play. With six teams ranked again in this week’s ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA polls, and eight games against ranked opponents, the non-conference ender will feature some of the top talent in the nation.
• ARIZONA, ARIZONA STATE and OREGON close out their non-conference schedules with the Judi Garman Classic, one of the most competitive tournaments in the nation. CALIFORNIA heads to the UNLV Tournament in Vegas, while UTAH and OREGON STATE head to Honolulu for the Hawai’i Spring Fling to round out the road trips. STANFORD hosts their Louisville Slugger Invitational, UCLA hosts the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament and WASHINGTON hosts the Husky Classic in Seattle.
• Oregon State senior Hannah Akamine picked up Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, while Cal pitcher Stephanie Trzcinski was named Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Arizona’s Trish Parks continued her dominance and was voted Freshman of the Week for the third time this year.
