BOULDER - The outdoor track and field season will officially get under way for the University of Colorado with the Buffaloes hosting the Jerry Quiller Classic, March 20-21, at Potts Field.
Colorado will compete against several Front Range schools. Air Force, Colorado State, UC-Colorado Springs and Wyoming will make up the majority of competitors with CU, but there will be several other athletes competing unattached or as a member of a club. The invitational is a non-team scoring meet.
The hammer throw and javelin will be contested on Friday; starting at 3 p.m. Saturday's events will start at 9:30 a.m. with the men's 10,000-meter run. A women's 10k will follow at 10:15 a.m. The meet is scheduled to wrap up around 3:45 p.m. A complete schedule is online at CUBuffs.com.
The forecast for Friday is partly sunny with a high of 67 degrees and Saturday has a high of 71 degrees (as of Thursday).
The Jerry Quiller Classic is the first of two meets CU will host this spring. The Buffs will also host the CU Invitational, April 10-11. Both meets take place at Potts Field on 30th and Colorado and admission is free.
