PHOENIX – Designated hitter Brian Serven went 5-for-5 at the plate and starting left-hander Brett Lilek took a no-hitter into the seventh inning to lead No. 6 Sun Devil Baseball past Stanford, 14-6, on Sunday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

The Sun Devils (18-7, 7-2) swept the Cardinal (10-14, 0-6) for the first time since April 2009 and picked up just their third Pac-12 series sweep in the past three seasons.

Serven, who set new careers in hits, runs and RBI, finished with five hits, five RBI, four runs scored and two home runs. He became the first Sun Devil since Michael Benjamin on March 4, 2012, to record five hits in a game and the first Devil since Nate Causey on May 17, 2014, with a pair of homers.

Lilek (2-2) did not allow a hit through his first six innings and earned the win in a seven-inning outing, tied for his career-long. He allowed just one run on three hits and three walks, and struck out three.

ASU took an early 4-0 lead with a pair of runs in both the first and third innings, and never relinquished its lead. They scored once more in the fifth before Stanford broke up Lilek's no-hitter in the seventh inning with a leadoff single by designated hitter Austin Barr. The Cardinal added two more base hits and a sacrifice fly to notch their first run of the game, but Lilek responded with back-to-back strikeouts to strand runners at the corners and keep ASU's lead intact, 5-1.

Serven led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run and pinch hitter RJ Ybarra followed with a two-run shot, his team-leading fourth of the season, to extend the Devils' lead to seven.

ASU's bullpen allowed four runs on three hits and three walks in the eighth inning to pull the Cardinal within three, but right-hander Ryan Burr (10) issued a looking strikeout with two runners on base to end the threat.

The Devils responded with six runs in the bottom of the eighth, including a three-run homer by Serven, a RBI single from pinch hitter Ryan Lillard and a two-out, two-run single from second baseman Andrew Snow, to push their back to nine, 14-5. Burr then closed out the ninth for his Pac-12 leading 10th save of the season.

ASU has drawn more than 65,000 fans this season as 10,074 fans attended this weekend's series, the fourth time this season the Devils have drawn five figures in a three-game set.

Cardinal starting pitcher Logan James (2-2) allowed four runs on three hits and five walks in 2 2/2 innings in the loss.

Notes
The Devils moved to 98-93 all-time against Stanford, including 7-9 in all-time series', and now have four sweeps over the Cardinal since 2000.
