Washington's Cheng-Tsung Pan Pac-12 men's golfer of the month
SAN FRANCISCO – Cheng-Tsung Pan of WASHINGTON, who set the all-time Washington record with his seventh career, has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month for March, the Pac-12 announced today.
The senior from Miaoli County, Taiwan, posted two wins, in leading the Huskies to three top-five fin-ishes, including a team title at the Lamkin San Diego Classic.
Pan opened the month by shooting a 9-under 204 (68-67-69) to capture medalist honors by one stroke at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Mexico and tied the all-time school record with his sixth career win. He followed that up a week later by breaking the school record with his seventh career victory at the Lamkin Classic as he finished 8-under 208 (67-75-67) to tie teammate Corey Pereira for the win. He closed out the month with a 3-over 219 (75-71-73) to tie for 11th in guiding the Huskies to a second-place showing at the Duck Invitational.
Pan is the No. 1 ranked individual by Golfstat with a 68.12 rating, just ahead of Stanford’s Maverick McNealy (68.21). A Hogan Award Watch List Nominee, Pan is the fifth ranked amateur in the world.
Seven Pac-12 teams are currently ranked in Golfweek’s Top 25 - No. 8 STANFORD, No. 10 ARI-ZONA STATE, No. 12 UCLA, No. 13 USC, No. 18 WASHINGTON, No. 19 OREGON and No. 22 CALIFORNIA.
The Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship is April 27-29 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.
