Buffs To Host Two Clinics

Mar 31, 2015

BOULDER - The University of Colorado volleyball team will host a pair of clinics prior to its home scrimmages this spring with the first one on Thursday, April 2, from 4-6 p.m. at the Coors Events Center.

The Buffs will host Colorado State after the clinic on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the main gym. The second clinic is on April 16, also from 4-6 p.m., before CU's contest against Northern Colorado in the upper gym of the practice facility.

"Our players and coaches are committed to making a positive difference in young people's lives, especially right in our own backyard," head coach Liz Kritza said. "Hosting open clinics followed by top level competition is a unique idea we wanted to add to our spring competition slate. It is a great way to not only grow the game of volleyball in our community, but also to help these girls and boys stay active and healthy playing this great game."

The clinics are open to kids in eighth grade and under. Parking after 5 p.m. is free in lot 436/RG; prior to 5 p.m. parking will be available in paid meter parking lot 440 right outside of the CEC. Both scrimmages are open to the public and admission is free.

"We are excited to be hosting a clinic in conjunction with our spring scrimmages," Kritza said. "Our coaching staff will run the clinics and interact with each player who attends.  It is a fantastic opportunity for young volleyball players to come learn the game how we teach it in the Buff's gym.  Additionally, it is a great lead up to our summer camps, which will also be coached by the CU volleyball staff and current players.  This is a unique and special occasion where young athletes can attend a clinic, then listen and watch those coaches work with collegiate players in a competitive setting while experiencing some of the best volleyball in the country."

Registration is open for CU's summer camps which run from July 8-18. There are a variety of camps to choose from, including Buffalo Basics, All Skills Day, Position Training, High Performance, All Skills Overnight and CU Destination Team Camp.
