SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The 10th-ranked Arizona Wildcats (14-1) handed eighth-ranked UCLA (8-3) its second straight 3-2 defeat in the first round of the Pac-12 Invitational on Saturday morning at Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif.

The Bruins' got the first point of the match at No. 4 doubles when Karly Drolson and Rachel Inouye defeated Taylor Arizobal and Allie Cook in straight sets, 21-13, 21-17. The Bruin pair is now 12-2 on the year.

But Arizona tied the dual at 1-1 when Kaitlyn Leary and Kendall Polan defeated the Bruins' Elise Zappia and Madie Smith at the second flight, 21-18, 21-10. Smith had nine kills and nine digs while Zappia ended with six kills and 10 digs. The duo drops to 13-5 on the season.

The Wildcats then took a 2-1 lead after the No. 1 doubles match where Madison Witt and McKenna Witt defeated UCLA's Kamila Tan and Zoë Nightingale, 21-19, 21-14. The Bruins struggled offensively and defensively. Tan had eight kills and four digs while Nightingale finished with five kills and two digs. The Bruin pair is now 7-4 on the year.

Arizona clinched the dual win, when at the No. 3 flight, Emily Kiser and Rachel Rhoades defeated the Bruins' Julie Consani and Laurel Weaver in another three-set match, 21-19, 11-21, 15-9. Weaver had 18 kills and 14 digs while Consani chipped in eight kills and 11 digs. The Bruin duo is now 7-5 on the year.

At the No. 5 flight, Lexi Jasper-Baylin and Ivey Schmitt won a three-set thriller, 21-18, 19-21, 15-13 over Arizona's Hailey Devlin and Sarah Seiber. Schmitt had 25 kills and 10 digs while Jasper-Baylin added 14 kills and 16 digs for the Bruins. The Bruin duo is now 5-1 on the season.

The Bruins now face California (7-13) in the consolation bracket later today.
