Moore and Jackson earns baseball honors

April 20 - SAN FRANCISCO-- STANFORD's Drew Jackson and his .450 week and OREGON STATE's Andrew Moore and his complete game eight-strikeout performance earned Pac-12 Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.


Jackson (Orinda, Calif.) had three multi-hit games last week, batting .450 with three doubles and a triple, as Stanford won its second-straight weekend series. Against Utah on Friday, he had four hits and two doubles and added another two hits and two RBIs on Saturday, going 7-for-14 for the weekend. Jackson is batting .290 this year


Moore (Eugene, Ore.), in a 3-1 win over Arizona, scattered five hits, struck out eight and walked two to lower his season ERA to 1.40 on the season. Against Pac-12 competition it is even better, at 0.68. Arizona had come into the weekend and remain, the Pac-12's top hitting ballclub. He is 4-1 overall with a .186 opponent batting average. This is Moore's second honor of the season.


STANDINGS: UCLA remains in front at 14-4, 1.0 game ahead of Arizona State (13-5) and 2.5 games ahead of USC (10-5).


NATIONAL RANKINGS: In Baseball America UCLA (28-8) remained at No. 3 followed by No. 7 Arizona State (25-11) and No. 10 USC (29-10). Collegiate Baseball as the Bruins at No. 2, ASU at No. 5,USC at No. 11, California (23-13) at No. 16, and Oregon State (25-12) at No. 20.


SOME STAT NOTABLES: USC's Bobby Stahel is on a 21-game hit streak, while Washington's Braden Berry is on a 16-game hit streak. Arizona's Bobby Dalbec has reached base safely in all 37 games this season. Ryan Kellogg improved to 18-2 in Pac-12 games in his career with a win at Washington.OSU's Andrew Moore now has a 1.40 ERA, the best among Pac-12 starters, following a win over Arizona, the top hitting team in the Pac-12.
