Oregon, UCLA tied at the end of day two of Pac-12 Championships

BOULDER, Colo. – The top four teams at the Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championships are separated by just three strokes after Tuesday’s second round on the par 71, 6,407-yard Boulder Country Club course.

OREGON and UCLA are tied for first at 5-over par. ARIZONA, who posted the best round of the tournament thus far, a 2-under par 282, sits just one stroke back at 6-over par. WASHINGTON is two behind the Wildcats at 8-over par. There is then a considerable drop-off with host COLORADO and USC rounding out the top five with a score nine strokes behind the Huskies at 17-over par.

“I was really happy with the way we were able to finish up as a team,” UCLA coach Carrie Forsyth said. “Overall it was a really solid performance and I was happy to see them do well because I feel like this is a course we can play on.  It’s difficult, but we are a good ball-striking team. Tomorrow we don’t need to change anything, we just need to go out and execute under pressure.”

The Bruins hold the top two individual spots with Bronte Law shooting a 4-under par 67 and is sitting at 5-under par 137 (70-67).  Her teammate Erynne Lee posted a 3-under par 68 and is one stroke back at 4-under par 138 (70-68) through 36 holes.  Three players are tied for third at 3-under par including first-day leader Caroline Inglis of Oregon, ARIZONA STATE’s Noemi Jiminez, and Arizona’s Lindsey Weaver.

“Bronte and Erynee played great today, 4- and 3-under par which are both really good rounds. They kept us in it,” Forsyth said.

“For me today it was just staying patient,” Law said. “I was hitting the ball pretty well all day. I need to go into tomorrow the same way I have the previous two days.  As long as I’m doing my best and working as hard as I can, I’m looking forward to playing with my team tomorrow and being in a good position to hopefully win a championship.”

The final round is set to begin at 8 a.m. PT/9 a.m. MT.
