IOWA CITY, Iowa – Five Stanford players combined for seven goals to lead the fifth-ranked Cardinal to a convincing 7-0 victory against Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon at Grant Field.

The Billikens (0-6) were unable to slow down the Cardinal (5-1), which led 35-3 in shots and 12-2 in penalty corners. Lauren Becker scored her first two goals of the season, while Fran Tew made netted her second and third of the year.

Becker set up Tew's opener within the first six minutes. By the 20th minute, Stanford had taken a 3-0 lead on goals from Maddie Secco and Catherine Dawson. The Cardinal added two more goals in a span of 1:17, with Caroline Beaudoin and Becker scoring their first goals of the season near the end of the half.

The second half yielded more scoring chances for the Cardinal, which tacked on two more goals. Tew and Becker each scored their second of the afternoon to put the game out of reach for Saint Louis.

It was a quiet afternoon for goalkeeper Dulcie Davies, who did not face a shot and was withdrawn at halftime. Sophomore Maddy Belin replaced Davies for her first action of the season.

Couteau and Becker each added two assists, with Sarah Helgeson, Katie Keyser, and Dawson pitching in one apiece. Beaudoin led the Cardinal with 9 shots, Becker took 6 and Marissa Cicione added 5.

Stanford is back in action on Sunday when it takes on Kent State at 10 a.m. (PT) in Iowa City, Iowa. Live statistics will be available online.
