#Complete12 Spotlight: Cal's Luc Bequette

Sep 18, 2015

School: Cal

Major: Business Administration

Sport: Football

Position: Defensive Tackle

Hometown: Little Rock, Ark.

Why did you choose Cal?
"First and foremost, I chose Cal because of the great education I could get here. I also really love the Bay Area. I remember driving across the Golden Gate Bridge on my visit and thinking about how cool it would be to live here. There is so much to do within just a short drive of campus. I also love the weather, it’s like perfect football weather all the time.”

What are your academic plans?
“I want to get my degree in business in three years then start law school while I’m still playing football. I’m taking 17 hours this semester because I want to get my undergraduate degree early.”

Tell us about your family and the rich football history you come from.
“My father, uncle, grandfather, and cousin all played football at Arkansas. My dad and uncle were offensive linemen for the Razorbacks, and my cousin Jake was a defensive end. Jake plays for the Patriots now and has inspired me  in my football journey. My mom was also a bronze medal winning figure skater in the Olympics.”

What is special about the Cal football team this year?
"Over the summer and through camp, our freshman class really bonded. I’ve made amazing friends. It’s only been a short time but we really love each other. On the field, I think this will be a dangerous class, we’ve got a lot of grit and we already act like a family."
