UCLA's Yueill named Pac-12 men's soccer player of the week
SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA’s Jackson Yueill was named Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for competition during the week of Nov. 2-8, the Conference office announced on Tuesday. Yueill, a freshman midfielder from Bloomington, Minn., scored three goals over the weekend to help UCLA top the Pacific Northwest schools. Yueill scored his first goal of the weekend for the Bruins, helping UCLA beat Oregon State, 4-1 on Friday. He scored the third goal of the match for the Bruins after corralling a loose ball and beating two defenders to find the back of the net.
Two days later Yueill scored a brace against Washington in the Bruins’ 2-1 victory over the Huskies. His first goal of the match was a bended free kick to get past the Washington keeper. Yueill then netted the game-winning-goal in the 60th minute from close range to seal the win over the Huskies. The two-goal effort was Yueill’s first career multi-goal game and he now has seven goals and five assists on the season.
This is Yueill’s first weekly honor and the 59th all-time Conference weekly nod for UCLA.
No. 16 UCLA finishes the regular season with a trip to San Diego State, Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. PT.
